The annual challenge between Qualcomm and Apple starts. A first GeekBench benchmark of what should be the A14 Bionic processor appeared on the net, that is the platform that will power the future generation of iPhone 12. The SoC in question shows all its power managing to beat even the results obtained by Snapdragon 865 Qualcomm.
The processor was tested on a beta iPhone. According to the reported data, he scored well 1658 points in single-core and 4612 in multi-core surpassing all rivals and even the A12 Bionic of the iPhone 11 Pro. The benchmark platform would have created a graph to compare the results of the latter and we note how the latest top of the range of Cupertino has obtained 1329 and 3468 points, while Qualcomm's high-end proposal reached 930 in single-core and 3445 in multi-core.
Another interesting aspect that emerges from this fugue is the frequency, A14 Bionic would be the first Apple processor to exceed 3 GHz. In fact, the board shows a frequency of 3090 MHz. As already leaked previously, the new processor would also be characterized by a 5 nm production process. In short, the power should not be missing: a power that we will be able to test in the field as soon as the new creatures of the Cupertino colossus are born.
The new generation of iPhone is expected in September, as per tradition. There should be no changes caused by the Coronavirus emergency. Apple has already confirmed that WWDC 2020, the annual developer conference, will not be delayed and will take place online with all the limitations that come with it.
