The latest events that are happening in Ukraine are shocking the whole world a bit, and also the videogame industry has and is continuing to have various consequences. In the past we have already talked about what happened to the guys from GSC Game World and the development of their own STALKER 2, a title postponed to a later date precisely because of the movement of many Ukrainian developers to the Czech Republic. Now comes even worse news, and it concerns a animator who had worked on Metro Exodus.
We are talking about Andriy Korzinkin, an animator who worked together with the Ukrainian studio 4A Games and who was killed in a fight while defending his country. The news of his departure was shared on Twitter by the current Remedy gameplay designer, Leonid Stepanov, who had previously worked with Korzinkin at a time when the two collaborated at 4A Games.
“Andrii 'Nizrok' Korzinkin died while performing a combat mission in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He was a talented animator, an incredible person and a true hero. He rest in peace, man. We will miss you”, this the message which Stepanov wanted to dedicate to his ex-colleague and friend who, unfortunately like many other people, lost his life in a conflict that we hope will end as soon as possible.

Stepanov himself subsequently released a brief interview to the PC Games editorial staff, in which the gameplay designer wanted to recall some of the moments shared with Andrii Korzinkin at the time of 4A Games and during the development of Metro Exodus (which you can buy on Amazon), a game that features a sector of animations of the highest level. Right in the last chapter of the Metro gaming saga, Korzinkin was responsible for much of the animations present in the gameplay phases, those of the various characters and in the cutscenes.
