    If you use Chrome as your default browser, you may be aware of Google's sync feature which allows you to sync bookmarks, extensions, passwords, browsing history, and other similar settings. Chrome uses your Google account to sync data across all of your devices. 


    Google's sync feature comes in handy when you have multiple devices and don't want to re-add everything on another computer. However, you may not like Google's sync feature, and you may not want to sync everything to the computer you are using.

    How to enable and disable Google Sync

    What happens when you enable Google Sync?

    If you are enabling the Google sync feature on your Google account, you can check the following activities:


    • You will be able to view and access your saved passwords, bookmarks, extensions, browsing history on all your devices every time you log into your Google account.
    • When you log into your Google account, it will allow you to automatically log into Gmail, YouTube, and other Google services.

    How to activate Google synchronization

    If you don't know how to enable Google Sync on your desktop, Android or iOS device, you can follow the methods below:



    Enable Google Sync on the desktop

    If you want to turn on Google sync on desktop, you can follow these steps:

    1. The first step is to go to the Chrome browser and log into your Google account entering username and password.


    2. After successfully logging into your account, click three vertical points in the upper right corner of the browser screen.

    3. Go up Settings.

    4. Now, click you and on section google from the left panel.


    5. Finally, click Enable synchronization next to your Google account.

    Enable Google Sync for Android

    If you use your Android device to manage your Google account, you can follow these steps to enable Google sync. Before proceeding with the steps, make sure you are signed in to your Google account on your device:

    1. Open Google Chrome on your Android device and click the three vertical points in the upper right corner of the screen.

    2. Click Settings.

    3. Touch Sync and Google Services.

    4. Now, active the switch next to Sync your Chrome data.

    However, if you don't want to sync everything, you can click Manage Sync to choose from the available options.

    Enable Google Sync on the iOS device

    If you wish enable Google sync on your iOS device, follow these steps:


    1. Open the Chrome browser and click the three horizontal lines in the lower right corner of the screen.


    2. Click Settings.

    3. Go to Google Sync and Services.

    4. Now, turn on the switch next to sync Chrome data.

    5. Finally, tap Done at the top of the screen to save the changes.

    How to disable Google Sync

    When you turn off Google sync, your previous synced settings will remain unchanged. However, Google will not sync new changes to your bookmarks, passwords and browsing history after you disable Google sync. 

    Disable Google Sync on the desktop

    1. Open yours Chrome browser and log into your Google account.

    2. Now, click on three vertical points in the upper right corner of the screen and click Settings.

    3. In section "You and Google", click disable next to your Google account.

    That's all; your Google settings will no longer sync with your account. Alternatively, if you want to manage which tasks to sync, you can follow these steps:

    1. Back to top Settings and click Synchronization and Google services.

    2. Touch Manage what you sync.

    3. Finally, you can click Customize synchronization to manage the tasks you want to sync.

    Disable Google Sync for Android

    If you want to turn off Google sync on an Android device, you can follow these steps:


    1. Open the Chrome browser e click on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the screen.

    2. Go up Settings.

    3. Touch Sync and Google Services.

    4. Finally, disable theswitch next to Sync your Chrome data.


    Alternatively, you can also turn off Google sync from your device's settings. Follow these steps to disable Google sync:

    1. Drag your device's notification panel and click the gear icon to open settings.

    2. Scroll down and open Accounts & sync.

    3. Click Google.

    4. Now select your Google account where you want to disable Google sync.

    5. Finally, you can uncheck the boxes next to the list of available Google services to prevent synchronization of activities.

    Disable Google Sync on the iOS device

    If you are an iOS user and you want disable synchronization in Google Chrome, follow these steps:

    1. Open your Chrome browser and click on the three horizontal lines in the lower right corner of the screen.

    2. Click Settings.

    3. Go to Google Sync and Services.

    4. Now, turn off the switch next to it to sync Chrome data.

    5. Finally, tap Done at the top of the screen to save the changes.

    6. That's it; your activities will no longer sync with your Google account.
