  3. Open the Trash.
  4. Find the photo you want to recover.
  5. Press and hold the photo.
  6. Click Restore.
  7. The photo returns to the gallery.

The process is simple, as you can see. Also, since the images we deleted are kept for 60 days in the application recycle bin, we have a lot of time to recover them. It is recommended to check the garbage from time to time, in case there are one or more images that shouldn't be there, as this way they can be restored before they disappear from the trash without being able to do anything else.


Hidden photos in the gallery?

As we showed you a few months ago, there is an option to hide photos from the gallery in Google Photos. It is possible that this photo that you do not find in the gallery has not been deleted, but it is hidden. This means that it is still in our account in the application, only we have to look elsewhere to find it. The photos that have been hidden are saved in the archive.


  1. Open Google Photos.
  2. Click on the three horizontal stripes.
  3. Insert archive.
  4. Find the photo
  5. Press and hold the photo.
  6. Click Cancel Archiving.
  7. The photo returns to the gallery.

Turn on Backup and Sync

An option that can prevent a lot of annoyance while using Google Photos is the use of backup and synchronization. It is a service that automatically saves photos and videos to your Google account. Thanks to this option, you can save the photos or videos present in the account, so as not to lose anything and thus recover a photo if we have deleted it by mistake. The steps to activate this option are:


  1. Open Google Photos
  2. Open the side menu of the application.
  3. Enter your settings.
  4. Go to the section « Backup and synchronization «
  5. Activate the backup option.
  6. Select the quality of the image, choosing: “High quality (unlimited free space)”, so it doesn't matter how much space the person has in their Google account, since the photographs do not take up anything.
