During the showcase dedicated to the virtual reality of Meta, the company behind Facebook and other tech products including of course its virtual reality headsets, the release date of the VR version of Among Us has been announced. The game, produced by Innersloth, Schell Games and Robot Teddy, was announced earlier this year and its release is now very close, at an incredibly low price and within everyone's reach.
As announced during yesterday's event, Among Us VR will be available starting November 10, 2022. The game will not be a Meta exclusive: although it was announced within the company's events, the title will appear on Meta Quest and Oculus Rift, but also on Steam. All those who pre-order the title will receive a Mini Crewmate as a pre-order bonus. The game will be fully translated into Spanish and it will be possible to take advantage of cross-play between the various versions and play with one or two controllers.
The arrival of Among Us for virtual reality concludes a decidedly interesting journey, which has consecrated Innersloth. Launched in 2018, the title only found its popularity in 2020, when it was played on Twitch by several streamers forced to stay at home due to the various global lockdowns that governments have implemented to contain the COVID-19 epidemic. From that moment on it was a success, which was able to attract many players and which prompted Innersloth to stop work on the sequel, to devote himself full time to a game that had finally found its own community.
After its success on PC, Among Us finally appeared on consoles as well PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo, complete with a physical edition dedicated to collectors. A real case study from the world of video games, which demonstrates how Twitch and content creators can easily lead the crowd, provided of course that there is a valid, solid and above all fun product behind it.
