The Last of Us: Firefly Edition arrives in Europe, but with the "trick"

Release in September 2021 only in the United States of America, The Firefly Edition of The Last of Us: Part 1 was considered as a sort of holy grail for collectors and lovers of the Naughty Dog game. The reasons, on the other hand, were all there: the packaging, more "luxurious" and the inclusion of a comic as well as a series of bonuses. Now, months after the original release, that same edition is preparing to debut in Europe, but with a little trick.

The reasons that led to a delay in the publication of the Firefly Edition also in our continent are not clear, but since the officialization (which took place without a press release but discovered during the night only thanks to fans on Twitter) it immediately seemed clear that something was not right. And indeed, as reported online, the edition of the game will arrive in Europe, but without the game disc, with the comic that will not be translated into any language and will only be available in English.

Beyond the shortcomings, the price is surprising. The release date of The Last of Us: Part 1 Firefly Edition is set for January 26, 2023, approximately six months after the release of the original game, sold at full price on consoles. This particular edition will cost a good 109,99 Euros and the absence of a disc has left players amazed. Clearly inside the package there is a code to download the title, as has already happened in the past with other Collector's Editions. However, here we are not talking about a real collector's edition, but more of a limited or special edition, given the absence of gadgets and statues.

On the sidelines of the "reveal", the hope is that Sony can shed some light on how the game and this edition are distributed. For now, the Firefly Edition appears to only be available on PlayStation Direct and the hopes of being able to book it at some retailers are really low.
