Best MMORPG games to try

Let's start with the list of best MMORPG games currently available! We remind you that this guide will be updated on a monthly basis.

World of Warcraft - Best MMORPG Games

Let's start with him: the most popular MMORPG ever! World of Warcraft came out in 2004, but Blizzard does not intend to stop updating it, continuing to get rich thanks to this goose that lays golden eggs, but how can you blame her? During his long journey that has lasted a long time 15 years, WoW has changed a lot. New classes, challenges, graphics, entire continents and even time travel have enriched the game. This title is so vast that playing it nowadays is sure to miss out on some great side-quests, as the contents overflow. World of Warcraft might seem quite dated and not very funny, given that it is the forerunner of modern MMORPGs, but it is not. Quests are varied and full of things to do, and expansions continue to offer better and better content. WoW is a title that requires the payment of a monthly fee.

Available for: Microsoft Windows and macOS.

New World - Best MMORPG games

After a thousand ups and downs, the branded MMORPG Amazon Games has seen the light. What this title proposes is anything but innovative. What makes New World one of the best MMORPGs lies in the union of the most loved aspects present in the various exponents of the genre, together with a pure action combat. Fun is therefore guaranteed and, in case you are fed up with the classic Massive Multiplayers, it could represent the right breath of fresh air to return to spend a few hours in the company of your PC!

Available for: Microsoft Windows.

Final Fantasy XIV Online - Best MMORPG Games

Final Fantasy XIV initially it offered an experience that was anything but fun. Between bugs, glitches, horrible menus and various problems it was literally unplayable. This prompted Square Enix to take drastic action, including leaving the old team, hiring a new team, and remaking Final Fantasy XIV in its entirety. The title offers everything that fans of the saga love, between epic stories, varied environments, extravagant characters, flashy scenes and Chocobo in abundance. It also boasts one of the deepest class-based systems in circulation, thanks to the ability to level each crafting class and profession on a single character. The new Shadowbringers expansion is also recently available. Final Fantasy XIV Online is a title that requires the payment of a monthly fee.

Available for: Microsoft Windows, macOS X, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

The Elder Scrolls Online - Best MMORPG Games

He could be missing The Elder Scrolls Online in this guide? Certainly not, and the reasons are simple. The TES saga has always offered one of the best RPG experiences ever and with the Online version you can share it with your mates. Set 1.000 years before Skyrim and 800 years before Morrowind and Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls Online begins in Coldharbour's Weeping Prison where, staying true to the Elder Scrolls tradition, you will be prisoners. After escaping, you are free to explore the continent of Tamriel, fight monsters, discover dungeons and craft weapons with other adventurers or on your own. There are several expansions that bring new and old regions into the game like Murkmire and Summerset, not to mention those that will be implemented in the future. The Elder Scrolls Online universe is expanding more and more, creating an ever-changing MMO. Like the previous ones, this video game also requires the payment of a monthly fee.

Black Desert Online - Best MMORPG Games

Black Desert Online was able to create a crazy hype thanks to his combat action and the elements of property management. Alongside standard leveling and research, BDO offers players and guilds the opportunity to become lords of medieval slums, buying buildings or even taking control of entire cities. While some of these mechanisms were to be reviewed or unavailable at launch, they are now fully implemented. In fact, BDO is a game that improves over time. The title follows the buy-to-play business, meaning that you can access all the content by paying only the initial price.

Available for: Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (coming soon).

Lord of the Rings Online - Best MMORPG Games

Middle-earth's Tolkien it's a perfect setting for an MMO. He has great characters, a huge world to explore, and everyone is fighting perpetually. Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Hobbits make up the playable races of Lord of the Rings Online, and as hunters, thieves or one of the other classes, you will embark on your own adventure. Meet Ents, get lost in Moria or take long rides through Rohan. The expansions make the story progress, following the books, and through each main plot point new mechanics come, such as the addition of horse fighting. If you've ever dreamed of experiencing Tolkien's world firsthand, then this MMORPG is for you. Plus you have one more reason to try it out: it's free-to-play.

Available for: Microsoft Windows and macOS.

Neverwinter - Best MMORPG games

Neverwinter is a surprise. What Cryptic Studios has done is build on Dungeons & Dragons, taking the board game's locations, classes, spells and abilities, then introducing them into a MMORPG title. While in theory it shouldn't work, it does great. Lots of free expansions that include new races and classes have been introduced as Neverwinter launched, taking players far beyond, to lands like Icewind Dale, where barbarians and unpleasant temperatures are the least of the worries. It's a mostly MMO linear, in addition to the expansions to the base game, you can take advantage of the content created by the players themselves. The game is free-to-play, but we would like to say that it becomes increasingly difficult to play without spending a cent, even if it is certainly not impossible.

Available for: Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4.

RuneScape - Best MMORPG games

Come World of Warcraft, Runescape has been (and continues to be) a landmark of the MMORPG genre of all time. Instead of shrinking, Runescape continues to grow in terms of players and content. New missions and events are introduced almost every week so that veterans always have something new to experience, while new players find themselves in a world already full of stories and adventures. Runescape has one of the most generous and friendly communities of all videogames. If, therefore, you are looking for advice on a particularly difficult mission or simply some help, the other players will be willing to help you. It's not just because of the story Runescape offers, the big expansions, a mobile version and countless spin-offs, the Jagex MMO works because it seems to show absolutely no signs of stopping and ... well, it's a free-to-play released in 2001 still in vogue!

Available for: Windows, Linux and macOS.

Star Trek Online - Best MMORPG Games

Each mission in this MMO is like an episode of the show, and each mission series is an arc, complete with the occasional “filler”. Star Trek Online continues to be one of the most intriguing MMOs around not only for its license, but above all for the unique and varied gameplay. From the third-person shooter stages, to the simulation parts in space, STO is a game that will keep you hooked with always fun gameplay. Despite a rocky start, STO has grown into a gigantic, addicting and free-to-play MMORPG. Plus, it's often expanded upon by massive updates that add new textures. To make matters worse, you will have a whole crew and a starship to manage and customize, in this huge free-to-play.

Available for: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

TERA - Best MMORPG games

Often cited as the forerunner of action MMOs, TERA (The Exiled Realm of Arborea) continues to deliver one of the best hybrid fights. The latter differs according to races and classes, all with different playing styles and abilities. One of the coolest aspects of TERA's character creation system is the way it is all classes are compatible with all races, leading to some interesting combinations. TERA is a great free-to-play that shines (especially) when played in a group, especially when you and your mates battle some of the giant monsters that lurk in its beautiful environments.

Available for: Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4.

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Best MMORPG Games

A galaxy far, far away is the perfect setting for one of the best MMOs, so it's no surprise that Star Wars: The Old Republic of BioWare is in this ranking. Play through one of the eight classes, divided between Empire e Republic, each with a detailed and dramatic story. You will be able to assume the role of an imperial agent, working for the good of the Empire and taking out the terrorists; of a Jedi Knight who has sworn to eliminate the Sith and protect the galaxy; or even a Sith Inquisitor turned into a slave, playing a dangerous political game. All of this is available for free, but as a subscriber you can proceed faster and focus only on the coolest missions, rather than repetitive side-quests. Many expansions have improved it by far, but it's the excellent expansion "Knights of the fallen empire”Really deserves to be played. With its plot of intrigue, relationships and choices, it feels like a true sequel to "The Old Republic". SWTOR easily falls into the ranking of the best Star Wars games ever.

Available for: Microsoft Windows.

Guild Wars 2 - Best MMORPG games

Where World of Warcraft is a traditional MMO, Guild Wars 2 it is the opposite, strange and counter-current. It has few normal missions, in fact the players come together to fight in Events momentary: mini storylines that unfold according to the behavior of the players. These events allow players to play together organically and also impact the region they are in, reducing the threat of wandering gangs of monsters, at least temporarily. In the new expansion Path of Fire you will have the task of killing Balthazar, the god of war, before he drives Tyria to ruin. If you are not ready to take on the more advanced challenges, you can play the lower level adventures without spending a euro, as the base game is completely free.

EVE Online - Best MMORPG games

EVE Online it is unique in that it manages to focus on a lot of elements and does it excellently. Also, CCP Games continuously listens to its community and responds appropriately, to the point that subscribers are often an integral part of the development and decision making process. The key point of EVE Online is certainly yours prosperous economy, realistic and driven by players. Players participating in EVE alliances take their business very seriously, carrying out a very intense role-play. For depth, nuance, diplomacy and space battles, nothing compares to EVE Online. The title includes both a free plan (in which you will be more limited), and premium.

Secret World Legends - Best MMORPG Games

Secret World Legends is an MMORPG that pays a lot of attention to storytelling. If you are tired of the usual fantasy or science fiction world, this is the right title, given that is set in a world very similar to ours. The only difference with our beloved Earth are: the sects, the mythological creatures, the crazy conspiracies and the supernatural phenomena on the agenda.
