    Exploration Guide

The game has many collectibles and secrets, so we recommend that you take a look at everything to avoid missing out on anything. If you come from the old chapters of the series you will not need too many tips, but only information on where to find some things or information on the new classes.

The classes present

As in the predecessors, the classes are once again present, that is specializations that your characters can have. In total there are 24 and you will get them by continuing with the story or by completing side missions.

Each class has 2 specialties, that is, distinctive and unique characteristics, and of aspecial skill, which would be the final move. As each class is full of details, we have written a guide for each of them and you can check it out in our macro class guide.

Knowing the classes well is one of the fundamental requirements to get the better of the bosses of this game. Among other things, the class system is also one of the major attractions of Bravely Default II, since some are really original as a concept.

Experience points and class points

With experience points (ESP) you will increase the level of your character, earning points in the various statistics. Conversely, Class Points (PC) serve to increase the experience of your primary class, so that you can unlock new skills and bonuses.

Weapons, armor, accessories [in progress]

Weapons and armor are essential during your adventure for obvious reasons. The main advice is to always check the new equipment sold in the shops, especially the armor.

In the dungeons you will also find chests with excellent equipment, which is why you must always explore well.

Below you will find the list with the equipment present:

  • Weapons
  • Armature
  • Accessories

You will not always have to equip everything, in fact an excessive use of the equipment entails excessive load. Remember that the light classes don't get along well with the heavier armor and that the heavy classes can afford certain whims without too much trouble.

Bravely Default II also gives access to many of the aforementioned stuff inside dungeons or side missions, so the shop isn't the best choice. As always, explore and explore for all the best weaponry possible.

If you are afraid of making the game too easy you can always change the difficulty to Hard, which offers the highest level of challenge.

Tips for novices

If you are a new player, you may be interested in some of our Bravely Default II themed tips. We also refer you to our article which explains everything you need to know about Bravely Default II, where we also answer the famous question “is it necessary to play Bravely Default and Bravely Second first?”.

First remember to buy frequently Phoenix feathers, since at the beginning of the game only the White magician with Rebirth you can resurrect your characters who have fallen in battle. Since it is a low Physical Defense class, you will often have to bring your wizard back to life.

In this regard, also buy Curtains to farm in dungeons or on the map without having to go back to the taverns. In the Bravely series it is very, very important to pay attention to the synergy between the various classes, which is why you must always level them.

Raise the Handyman to level 12 with your entire team, if possible. By doing this you will have access to two very useful passive skills necessary to quickly level up with the other classes.

Also remember to do the often Explorations, as they will allow you to find very useful objects such as the Orbs of experience or of the class, useful for earning points easily. These objects you can also get them with the Handyman's Search skill.

The last piece of advice is to always keep an eye on your classes and especially the weight of your characters, which could have negative effects in the fights. Taking a look at the stats is also useful to understand which class to assign to the 4 characters, but don't worry, there are also our guides for that.

As for the difficulty level we recommend starting with Easy / Normal and to avoid Difficult if you are not knowledgeable. The difference is quite substantial as they will even change the number of HP possessed by the enemies.

General information about the game

Bravely Default II is set in Excillant, the continent that you will be able to explore during your adventures. It consists of several nations, which we talked about earlier in ours article on available places in the game.

The game is a turn-based JRPG that follows the style of old flames like the first Final Fantasy and the spiritual prequel of the series 4 Heroes of Light. Also in this chapter we can see how we have chosen to preserve the chili style that characterized the two previous games in the series.

Our team is made up of Seth, Gloria, Elvis and Adelle, the four warriors of light in search of the 4 crystals scattered around Excillant. As expected, the adventurers decide to recover them all to put an end to the wave of misfortunes that have hit the continent.

Mechanics and gameplay

The Bravely series has always focused on the concepts of Brave and Default, two mechanics that define the entire gameplay. Although Bravely Default II is also similar to the old Final Fantasy, the presence of the aforementioned elements enriches the gameplay and makes it quite pleasant.

The command Brave is an attacking technique that uses PB (Battle points) to allow those who spend them more actions during the same turn. If the PB number goes negative you will have to wait for the value to return to zero, which is why you never abuse the Brave for no reason.

On the contrary, the command Default replaces the traditional guard / defense present in the JRPG with the difference that it increases the PB by 1. For this reason, you will have to carefully calibrate between Brave and Default in order to achieve the right balance and then win.

The maximum number of PB obtainable is 3 (4 with a passive ability) and the fights always start with a minimum of 0 PB. In the event of an ambush by your team you will have 1 PB available immediately.

To establish the order of action within a turn we have the so-called shift indicator, a bar that fills up progressively. The game does a great job of explaining what it consists of.
