Genshin Impact: guide to attacks and elemental combos

Genshin impact is becoming the surprise of this 2020. The game developed by the Chinese team myHoYo famous for creating other titles such as Honkai Impact 3D, in recent days they have realized that they have created an impressive work so much that it has become the most played Chinese opera ever with over 17 million downloads on mobile alone in the first week of launch, a huge milestone. But Genshin Impact is not just a title free-to-play which takes its cue here and there from different genres, but on the contrary, it is much deeper with the possibility of doing different devastating combos through the elements, the cornerstone of the entire work.

If you have recently downloaded it, you will know by now that the elements behave differently in certain situations. For example, the fire (pyro) will not be able to maintain itself for long if you encounter a tremendous downpour during the fight, but in that case you will know that the thunder could be the best weapon. The ability to create a suitable team and combine the elements is the winning weapon of Genshin Impact. In this small guide we will give you some advice regarding the combinations of the elements and their effects, but let's go first in order, let's take a closer look at what the elements are.

And 7 elements

In Genshin Impact sono presenti 7 items which can be found in different forms within the full-bodied game world. Unlike the more classic JRPGs, here they can be distinguished by their Greek nomenclature: Anemo (wind), Geo (land), Dendro (nature), Hydro (water), Cryo (ice), Electro (electro) e Pyro (fire). Turning around the game world each of these elements can also have visible effects on your character, such effects as being wet from the rain will lead to being vulnerable to the opposite element.

The Effects of the Elements

After studying the game elements, below we will show you some of their effects on our team but above all on the game's enemies.

  • Cryo: Reduces the speed of us and / or the enemy.
  • Electro: anyone in a body of water will be electrocuted, plus an “Electro-Charged” reaction because they will already be wet.
  • Pyro: constant damage for 5 seconds
  • Geo: causes the “Crystallize” effect which halves the damage of all elements except the Geo one.
  • Hydro: causes the "wet" effect to the target.

Elemental Reaction

After studying and learning the elements of the game, below we will help you understand perhaps the most important mechanics of Genshin Impact that will automatically help you to form a team with increasingly winning combinations. In the previous paragraph we saw the 7 elements and some of their effects, below we will talk about the "Elemental Reaction“, In summary what causes the combination of some of these elements. It will be enough for you to make an attack of a particular element then switch with another character to create a reaction that will inflict, for example, considerable damage to the enemy.

  • Dendro + Pyro: they ignite with the passage of time.
  • Geo + (one of the elements): creates a shield which will increase our defense and even more to assimilated damage.
  • Hydro + Electro: electro damage over time.
  • Hydro + Cryo: freezes the target.
  • Hydro + Pyro: the next attack will do double damage if the trigger is fire, 1.5x more if it is ice.
  • Electro + Pyro: Inflicts area fire damage
  • Cryo + Electro: causes area ice damage and decreases the opponent's defense
  • Anemo + (one of the elements): extra elemental damage and spreads the effect
  • Hydro + Pyro: the next attack will do double damage if the trigger is water, 1.5x more if it is fire.

Elemental Resonance

Finally we will talk about another very important mechanic, theElemental Resonance. These are nothing more than bonuses that are activated based on combination of characters you have in the party. If two characters have the same element in common, we will receive a specific bonus related to that element.

  • Geo + Geo: resistance to hesitation, if we are protected by a shield (see Elemental Reaction above), our damage will increase by 15%.
  • Hydro + Hydro: Pyro effect reduction by 40%, healing effectiveness increase by 30%.
  • Anemo + Anemo: Reduces stamina cost by 15%, speed increase by 10% and skill count reduction by 5%.
  • Pyro + pyro: Cryo effect reduction by 40%, Attack increase by 25%.
  • Electro + Electro: Reduction of the Hydro effect by 40%, Electro-type Elemental Reactions have a 100% chance of generating electro-type elemental particles.
  • Cryo + Cryo: Electro effect reduction by 40%, critical chance increase by 15% if enemies are frozen or Cryo effects.
  • 4 different elements: Resistance increase against any element by 15%.

In conclusion, the peculiarity of Genshin Impact turns out to be precisely the question of the elements. If you start to get carried away you will see that you will defeat any enemy you have in front of you. Finally, remember that the game is available from last September 28 for PC, PS4 and mobile, the developers have already announced several updates that will expand the game map and obviously will add several characters to pull thanks to the famous (and hated) gatcha system.
