Google Drive, authentication with Face ID arrives for iPhone and iPad

Google Drive is updated bringing with it a novelty for iOS and iPadOS users. From today, it is possible to access the application used by Apple's biometric recognition systems: Face ID and Touch ID. This way, the files contained in the Big-G app will be more protected. At the user's disposal there are various options to choose when to activate or not authentication via Face ID or Touch ID.

Specifically, you can choose which is active whenever you try to log in even when switching between applications. If, for example, we are on Google Drive and we spend two seconds on Safari, authentication will be requested again when we return to Drive. To avoid unnecessary interruptions, you can set the login screen to be delayed for 10 seconds, 1 minute or 10 minutes after leaving the application.

As for privacy, however, Google warns that this setting does not ensure that Drive content does not appear through notifications or that "other system features" may have access, such as Siri or the Files and Photos apps. In any case, it is a waiting and required function that now allows iPhone and iPad owners to take advantage of Apple's biometric recognitions to log in.

The update is currently being released with version 4.2020.18204 and will gradually reach all iOS and iPadOS users.

The new iPhone SE 2020 is available on Amazon starting at € 499. .
