How to mute others during call zoom

There are two ways to do this: mute all participants and mute the speaker.

1. Mute all participants during the Zoom call

If you host a Zoom meeting, you have the power to mute and unmute attendees during a call. You can mute all participants or manually choose the participants you want to mute.

To do this, follow these steps on Android and iPhone:

1 pass: Launch the Zoom app and create a meeting.

Step 2: tap the Attendees tab at the bottom. You will be taken to the participant list.

3 pass: Tap Disable All at the bottom. This way they will all be deactivated. In case you want to re-enable all, tap Re-enable all. Confirm on the next screen.

Note: If you don't want attendees to wake up on their own, deselect the "Allow attendees to wake themselves" option. Only after that it is possible to unmute the participants and they cannot do it alone.

If you want to mute or unmute only the selected people, tap the attendee's name. Then, choose Mute or Unmute from the menu.

Final report: in the event that the attendee has mute the audio and you unmute it, they will receive a notification informing them that the host wants to unmute it. Only when they give permission will they be deactivated.

Alternatively, if you want to mute attendees from the start of the meeting, tap the three-dot icon at the bottom of the meeting screen and go to Meeting Settings.

Enable Mute on Entry.

2. Disable the loudspeaker during a Zoom call

If you are a meeting participant, you do not have the right to mute others. However, you can turn off the speaker in the Zoom app to reduce incoming audio during a call. To hear the audio, you will need to hold the phone close to your ear.

To use this feature, tap the speaker icon in the top left corner in a Zoom meeting. To disable it, tap it again.

Troubleshooting: Audio zoom does not work on Android and iPhone

If you can't hear others or if others can't hear you, follow these troubleshooting tips to fix the problem.

Restart the phone

For starters, restart your phone and then join the Zoom meeting again.

Enable speaker

If you can't hear others, make sure the speaker is enabled, as shown above. You should also turn up the phone volume.

Reactivate yourself

Sometimes, we accidentally deactivate ourselves. Then, tap the screen and hit the Wake Up button. If you can't unmute the sound, maybe the host has mute you. Send them a message to wake you up.

Allow Zoom to access your video

For that, tap on the Join Audio option present at the bottom of the meeting screen. Then, allow Zoom to access the audio. On iPhone, you may receive a notification asking you to grant access to device audio when you join the meeting.

Grant permission to the microphone

To do this on Android, go to Phone Settings> Apps. Tap Zoom followed by Permissions. Grant permission to the microphone.

On iPhone, go to Settings> Privacy> Microphone. Enable the zoom switch.

Uninstall the Zoom app

If the problem persists, try reinstalling the Zoom app. First, uninstall Zoom from your phone. Then install it again.

Is it better now?

As you saw above, you can mute the sound in several ways on the Zoom app. The procedure depends on what you want to disable. We hope you were able to mute yourself and others in the Zoom app successfully.
