The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, guide to the best and unique weapons

What are the best weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Here's our guide to the strongest weapons and unique variations, where to find them and how to get them.

In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, similar to what happened in its predecessor, most weapons have a durability that inevitably leads to destruction. After a certain number of shots these shatter, forcing the player to replace them as soon as possible. If in the last episode this mechanic could easily become tedious, because you often found yourself giving up very powerful weapons in favor of much less effective makeshift tools, the sequel has changed the cards on the table.

Thanks mainly to the Compositor, a new power of Link, it is possible combine any object present in the game to a shield or a weapon, allowing you to create unique creations that far surpass the attack of the most powerful weapons. However, there is some trick to obtain some of the most effective weapons well ahead of time, furthermore in the work there is a certain quantity of unique weapons that can only be obtained in specific ways. For this reason, we have made the guide to the best weapons and unique weapons of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which we strongly recommend you take a look at.

At this address, however, you can find the well-known guide to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to create the strongest weapons?

Don't just look at the damage, but above all the shape of the objects

The functioning of the Compositor is apparently very simple: just throw any object on the ground, activate it, and you will obtain an attack equivalent to the power of the combined object. Actually things are a little more complicated: the various objects, in fact, have very different effectiveness depending on the category of weapon to which they are combined. The first thing to pay attention to, much more important than the number related to the strength of the Compositor, is the shape of the object you are joining. If an object is shaped like a blade, it will work better if combined with a sword, dramatically increasing the number of slashes you can deliver before it breaks. Likewise, a hammer-shaped object such as the Hinox Horn will perform best when combined with a mace; vice versa, the Grublin horns closely resemble the tips of halberds and naginatas, therefore they will best enhance any kind of polearm.

The golden rule, therefore, is that Items dropped by enemies, including numerous Zonau Golem drops, are your best options for upgrading weapons. In the specific case, that of the Golems, if you take their horns and combine them with the Zonau Swords and Lances you will obtain extremely strong and resistant tools. So don't throw away enemy pieces, and above all our advice is to absolutely never use them to create potions! Always keep an eye on the shape and try to blend them with the tools with which they could, by eye, give the best results.

A ruby and an arrow become like an atomic bomb

A completely different matter when it comes to bows: you will surely have already learned how to combine materials with arrows to give them particular properties. There are some items that however deserve special mention: First of all precious gems greatly increase the effectiveness of arrows; a ruby will transform the next shot fired into a bomb of biblical dimensions, so much so that this has become one of the most used methods by speedrunners to get rid of high-level enemies prematurely. To increase the raw damage of an arrow, however, there are a whole series of scraps that are usually not noticed, such as the Hinox Nails, which will greatly enhance the effectiveness of long-range shots.

Lastly, there is a further type of object, namely all those drops related to mid-bosses that cannot be collected, but only fused with the equipment: these are the hearts of the Sassorock, the Cores of the Golemax, and so on. All these bosses present in the work are divided into three or four strength categories: if the Golemax core will only increase the attack of a Club by 10 points, an Armored Golemax Core can bring the basic attack of the weapon even at 60 points, so it's always a good idea to fuse these kinds of items with the best items in your weapon bag. We don't recommend combining them with shields instead: it's simply not worth it.

Is Silver Lynel's Horn the best Compositor item in the game?

As for Swords, the best item in Tears of the Kingdom appears to be Silver Lynel's Fine Horn, an object that is left exclusively by Silver Lynels; this horn is very similar to the blade of a katana, in fact the best way to identify this genus of Lynel is to carefully check the shape of their horns. The Stumpy Horn, also from the Silver Lynel, is instead ideal for clubs and the like, and is more similar to the classic antler of a deer. The peculiarity of these objects is that they have the same durability as diamond, so in addition to giving life to extremely powerful weapons, they are among the most resistant of all.

The underground arena is the best place to find Lynels

The other lower Lynel variants, such as the white ones, also leave behind extremely strong materials; in general, the Lynel can be easily found in isolated areas, near the borders of the map, or in the valleys and mountain ridges of Hyrule's underground. To easily find Lynel items, the best place is the Hyrule Underground Arena, which is located right below the large arena in the Hyrule plain: you can easily notice it using the topographical tower in the region, then look for a crevasse. We leave the photo below, but know that the surface arena is manned by a Griock, while the lower arena is invaded by a horde of four Lynels of increasing difficulty.

As for the best objects with which to create weapons, we find in order:

  • Il Ghibdo ribeye: Ghibdos can be easily found in the lands of the Gerudo, but just like Stalgoblin's arms, the ribs create very fragile fusions; they are great weapons to use to do a lot of damage in a short time.
  • Silver Chief Boblin's Horn: Probably the best fusion with spears, you can get it from the big silver Boblins. They are often found at the head of the Hordes of Enemies present underground, such as the one found exactly under the fortress of Akkala.
  • Golem Horn General: General Golems are three-eyed Zonau Golems who know how to use the Compositor and also use a variety of special attacks; they are very powerful and very rare enemies, often present in the sky islands in the southern area of Hyrule. Their horn is perfect for swords and polearms.
  • Horn of Silver Lizalfos: With 34 attack points and great resistance, the horns of the strongest Lizalfos give life to different types of scythes, depending on the base you attach them to. These enemies become very common after completing part of the main mission.
  • Silver Grublin Horn: The only better chance to create hammers lies in the horns of the Hinox, enemies which however are vastly rarer.
  • Silver Boblin Horn: Silver Boblins can be noticed by the yellowish ball at the end of their horn. It is an excellent material, very versatile for making different types of swords and very common.
  • Pieces of Griock: Griock horns are extremely powerful, but they give rise to elemental weapons, which may be more effective against some types of enemies and less so against others. If you're looking for Griocks, there's an electric one on the bridge of Lake Hylia, another electric one in the Hyrule Plains Arena, a glacial one north of the Husk Plain, and a fire one on the plateau before the Gerudo Desert .
