With "X”You can do a normal series of slashing, with "A”You can unleash a chain of rotating attacks and with "X + A”Instead you can perform a powerful vertical slash. Also attacking with "A + adventure”You can use yours shield to inflict considerable damage on your prey. All these attacks can be chained in many different ways and this will allow you to easily adapt to the movements of the monsters.

In addition to these fairly simple attacks, the sword and shield can rely on a powerful technique called step backwards. This hit will deal severe damage to monsters and it will immediately jump you into the air, allowing you to perform a very powerful downward attack.

To unleash this move, all you have to do is to press "X" during the back step animation. Finding the right rhythm in the middle of a fight isn't easy, but we're sure it will after some practice it will almost become natural.

Most of Monster Hunter Rise's weapons focus on a single type of attack, but in this paragraph of the guide we will explain why the combination sword and shield is an exception.

As you can easily guess, your sword is capable of inflicting damage from cutting, while the shield will inflict instead blunt damage. Sure, this happens with many weapons, but the sword and shield are the only matched capable of consistently apply both types of damage.

Thanks to this peculiarity, the sword and the shield will allow you to choose very different approaches in combat. For example, if you want to bet everything on stun, you can try to attack mainly the heads of monsters using the shield. Alternatively, you can take advantage of the quick attacks of your sword to try to cut the tail of the monsters. In our opinion, however, the best way to use the sword and the shield is to make the most of both of these options depending on the monster you are facing.

Wire Bug Attacks - Monster Hunter Rise, Weapons Guide: Sword and Shield

The biggest novelty introduced in this chapter of the series are the wire insects, creatures capable of helping hunters in both combat and exploration. In fact, thanks to the silk of these little creatures you will be able to move comfortably in mid-air and run powerful moves called silkworm attacks. Each weapon has two silk silk attacks that can be used by pressing "ZL+X/A" (or "R+X/A”For ranged weapons) that will consume one or two charges from the Thread Bug Bar once activated.

Sword Edge and Shield Bug Attacks are: waning shadow e turbines. Waning Shadow is a powerful one jump attack which will allow you to push yourself on a monster and then perform an additional air attack. This move is very convenient to use in case you don't have time to execute a charged slash.

Whirlwind on the other hand is a very powerful move that allows you to swing the sword around your character. Thanks to this technique you can ride monsters very easily and deal a lot of damage at the same time.

In this paragraph of the guide we talked about the attacks with insect wire for the sword and the shield present in the latest demo of Monster Hunter Rise, but before concluding we would like to remind you that in the full game these techniques may vary based on weapons or other factors. In the various videos shown by Capcom there are several attacks unusable in the demo, so it is likely that you can change them in some way.
