In this long period of isolation, which we hope is coming to an end, Nintendo has made cash by releasing a title like Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A pleasant pastime for these long days at home, a way to escape to a beautiful desert island to live, build and manage to the best of our ability. Among all the mortgages and loans from Tom Nook, weird visitors looking for fish and insects and a new update that has really brought a lot of news, of which we will certainly talk with some dedicated guide, life on the island proceeds as every day. Every so often, however, between a broken rock and a plot of land sold, let's also remember to raise our eyes to the sky. The stars will always be there, ready to listen to our wishes. 

What are shooting stars for?

Make a wish - Animal Crossing: New Horizons, guide to shooting stars and magic wands 

Whether you are a fan of the night sky or not, you will surely have seen a shooting star fall in your lifetime. This can also happen on your deserted island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, during clear nights. It could also happen that Fuffi warns you, at your daily login, of the imminent arrival of a meteor shower. That same evening you will then have the opportunity to take a moment to make a wish… or rather, more than one.

Just stop, look up at the sky by adjusting the view with the right analog stick and watch until you see a star fall. At that point, you will have to press the A key until the shooting star becomes much brighter. You can repeat the process every time you see a meteor, in fact, the more times you do it the better.

Once you have made the wish… nothing, nothing will happen. Not immediately, at least. The next morning, if you explore the coasts of your island, you will find on the seashore as many star fragments as you wish you expressed the previous evening.. Star shards are key elements in crafting the Magic Wand, a tool that allows you to change clothes very quickly. 

Before you can create it, however, you will obviously need to find the relevant project. The blueprint for the standard magic wand, called the Star Wand, will be given to you by Blatero's sister, the director of the museum. You can occasionally find the owl wandering around your island from 18pm onwards, if you talk to her she will gladly give you the project. To create it, you will need three regular star shards and one large star shard, which can always be found by making wishes.

There are also other variations of the standard magic wand, such as the Bamboo Wand or Egg Hunt Wand, unlockable during the Easter event which ended on April 13th. It is very likely that there are also other variations, which you can find through DIY projects in bottles scattered on the beaches or through future events. 

As we said, the magic wand is useful to quickly change your character's clothes and accessories. If you interact with a wardrobe, you can select eight different combinations of clothes and accessories that you can call up using the wand. A feature certainly not very exciting for many, which may not be worth the effort, but it is still something more. And it is certainly something faster and more immediate, rather than interacting with the wardrobe every time.
