FIFA 22: best modules, tactics and player instructions

One of the most important new features of FIFA 22 lies in the in-depth study of modules, custom tactics and player instructions, and today I want to show you the best settings for your FUT

FIFA 22 is available for football fans all over the world who bought the version Ultimate of the game. This year in FIFA 22 EA wanted to shake up the meta with new lineups, custom tactics and player instructions, which ones are best for dominating Weekend League and Division Rivals in Ultimate Team? Don't worry, we're here to explain it to you.

So many changes

This year EA decided to upset the modalities of the FUT in several respects. Weekend League campaigns can be grueling, from qualifying to the matches themselves (especially playing with a flawed method). Whether you choose to use an attack formation like the 4-2-2-2, both one of the new formations like the 5-2-3 (with diamond), the choice of the right instructions for the players, tactics and defensive / offensive settings will be crucial for the stability of the team. Choosing the right system will put you in a good position to get more wins in FUT Rivals and Squad Battles, while also saving time with qualifying for the Weekend League. Below then, we will explain how EA changed custom tactics in FIFA 22, which new modules have been added and which are the best player instructions.

The new modules - FIFA 22: best modules, tactics and player instructions

In addition to those present in previous editions of the game, the following modules have been added this year in FIFA 22:

  • 3-5-1-1: a purely offensive module for those who prefer attack on the flanks with good coverage in the center (obviously high)
  • 5-4-1 (diamante): also suitable for play on the flanks but with a lower defensive line at 5 and only one CDC in coverage
  • 5-2-3: a mixture between the two previous formations, with the three-man defense supported by full-backs and two wings to support ATT
  • 4-3-2-1 e 3-4-2-1: these two complementary modules change only in defense, with the wings becoming COCs. How this will impact the goal, however, is yet to be seen.

Since these new modules are still to be experimented and explored, we will give you our advice on modules, custom tactics and player instructions among those already tested. We certainly start with the tight 4-4-2, with the two CCs instead of the outside midfielders. Keep in mind that the following instructions are purely indicative, as the game has only been available for a few days.

Playing 4-1-2-1-2 (2) - FIFA 22: best modules, tactics and player instructions

As anticipated, let's start with 4-1-2-1-2 with the two CCs in midfield instead of the outside players. If you are going to use this module, the best settings are as follows:

  • Defense: Balanced with 50 Depth
  • Attack: Balanced, with 50 amplitude, 50 players in the area and direct passes / quick maneuver. Keep in mind that with Direct Passages you may find yourself uncovered in the event of a restart.
  • Corners and Free Kicks: 2 bars

For player instructions, set the following:

  • Full Backs: Stay behind in attack
  • CDC: Cover in the center, stay behind in attack
  • CC: Enter the box for the cross, Advance
  • COC: Stay ahead
  • ATT: Stay ahead, enter behind

This module is ideal for those who prefer the game in the center, with the risk, however, of leaving the bands uncovered. This could lead to some problems against large modules or particularly fast external / wings. In addition, we advise you to pay particular attention to adequately cover the opponent's counterattacks after corner kicks.

Playing 4-2-3-1 - FIFA 22: best modules, tactics and player instructions

One of the most effective modules, in these early stages of the game, it proved to be 4-2-3-1. This module, thanks to the two CDCs and the rear central COC, offers good coverage in the center in defense and several offensive ideas in attack. In case you want to use this module, we recommend the following settings:

  • Defense: Balanced, with 50 of Depth
  • Attack: Balanced, 50 Wide, 60 Players in the area and Quick Maneuver.
  • Corners and Free Kicks: 2 bars

As for the player instructions, we recommend the following:

  • Full Backs: Stay behind in attack
  • CDC: Both Center coverage. To one Stay behind in attack, to the other Advance.
  • COC: Stay ahead, enter the area for the cross
  • ATT: Stay ahead, enter behind

Even with this module you should opt for the central breakthrough to the detriment of the game on the flanks. The strengths of 4-2-3-1 is the excellent balance between cover in the defensive phase and the attack with the COCs. Here too, like the module seen above, pay attention to the fast exteriors of the wide modules, and to the restarts after set pieces.

Playing 4-4-2 - FIFA 22: best modules, tactics and player instructions

This module is my favorite. In FIFA 22, the 4-4-2, in addition to giving several options in the construction of the maneuver, is probably the most balanced. With this deployment it is possible to play in the center as well as on the wings, while maintaining good coverage in all areas of the pitch. The two ATT also offer many more forward solutions. To play with 4-4-2 we recommend the following settings:

  • Defense: Balanced, with 50 of Depth
  • Attack: Balanced, 50 Wide, 50 Players in area and Balanced in construction.
  • Corners and Free Kicks: 2 bars

Regarding the player instructions, we recommend the following:

  • Full Backs: Stay behind in attack
  • Midfield winger: Cut inside
  • CC: Center coverage (use box-to-box midfielders)
  • ATT: Both stay ahead and enter behind

With this module you should play a lot on the flanks, being (for now) the goal of FIFA 22. This year, pocketing with the outside players is extremely simple, especially with long passages and wide insertions behind the defenders. Finally, the two forwards offer options in penalty areas for both high balls and insertions.

Playing 4-3-3 (4) - FIFA 22: best modules, tactics and player instructions

This form it looks a lot like 4-4-2, with the exception of the disposition of midfielders. If before we had the two central midfielders flanked by the outside midfield, here we find a low COC behind the trident. Even with this module, play on the flanks and restarts with long passes behind the opposing full-backs is recommended. To play with this module we recommend:

  • Defense: Balanced, with 50 of Amplitude to 75 of Depth
  • Attack: Quick Maneuver, Direct Passes, 75 Wide, 60 Players in the area
  • Corners and Free Kicks: 2 bars

Regarding the player instructions, we recommend the following:

  • Full Backs: Overlap
  • CC: Cover in the center
  • Ali: Cut inside
  • COC: Enter the area for the cross, stay ahead
  • ATT: Resta avanti

This module, as already mentioned, it is suitable for play on the flanks but is much more offensive and unbalanced of 4-4-2. Due to the extremely high line and the width of the team, the goal when playing with this module is to recover the ball in midfield and start as quickly as possible on the counterattack. Be careful not to lose the ball in midfield, or you could suffer large shipments.
