Fallout 76 Guide: 5 Tips to Prepare for D1

Fallout 76 is almost among us and certainly many are looking forward to starting playing it. Before venturing into this new videogame venture, we want to give you some tips to better prepare you for his D1. So let's not waste any more time and find out what you need to pay more attention to before approaching Bethesda's work.

Make sure it's the right game for you

It might seem like a bit trivial advice, but that's not the case at all. The latest exponents of the series have maintained, albeit with some minor changes, a very precise structure. Fallout 3, New Vegas and Fallout 4 are single player games, with a large map to explore alone, missions to complete and a good amount of NPCs to talk to. Well, Fallout 76 revolutionizes this structure by moving into the world of online. The only characters you will encounter will be human players, for example.

Veterans must be ready to find themselves in a world with different rules and balances than in the past: the survival component is more important and crafting becomes central. The Beta was an excellent opportunity to test the game and you will surely have understood if it is the right game for you.

Novices, on the other hand, should not think that the work is not usable if the previous chapters have not been played. Fallout 76 is something different, so if you've never loved classic RPGs, but love online survials, this might be the game for you!

Decide which edition is right for you

As we all know, nowadays it is more and more common to have multiple editions of the same game, coming out at the same time. Let's try to find out in the midst of everything that Fallout 76 offers. Going in order we find:

  • Standard Edition: contains only the game.
  • SPECIAL Edition: This version includes three pins from Fallout's SPECIAL attribute range; specifically it contains the pins of Strength, Charisma and Fortune. You can find it at the same price as the standard, so it's worth taking this one.
  • You're Special Edition: in this version you will find the SPECIAL with a pack of extra pins to complete the collection.
  • Tricentennial Edition: Contains the full game, plus a host of digital extras such as the Patriotic Uncle Sam Suit, Tricentennial Customization Items for the T-51, T-45, T-60 and X-01 Power Armors, Customization Items of the Tricentennial for 10mm pistol, hatchet and laser rifle, as well as a commemorative photo frame of the Tricentennial, a poster for the workshop and a celebratory greeting emote.
  • Power Armor Edition: Contains all the elements of the Tricentennial Edition, a full-scale wearable T-51 Power Armor helmet, a West Tek bag, a glow-in-the-dark map (53x53cm) and 24 collectible miniature action figures.

There are many editions with different prices, but you will surely find the one that suits you best.

Free up some space and preload if you buy digitally

Fallout 76, like any open world game, requires quite a bit of space to download. Roughly, the game weighs in at 45GB in each version. If your connection is not very fast, there is a risk of having to wait a long time before you can play, especially since the first update will require around 55 GB of space. This means that in total you will need almost 100 GB.

Obviously, to limit delays, take advantage of the possibility of preloading if you have made the purchase digitally: the game will not be executable until D1, but in the meantime you can download it calmly.

Whoever finds friends, finds a bomb

If you are a veteran of the saga, you will be used to imagining the first days after the release of a new chapter as bearers of loneliness. Fallout 76, on the other hand, is a multiplayer game and having a few friends by your side isn't bad at all. You can ignore the other players, of course, but why do that?

The ability to respawn in the vicinity of allies and greater safety from the party are two of the main and most obvious benefits of cooperative play. Furthermore, by increasing the Charisma attribute, you can share some of your skills with your companions: a charismatic team, literally, is very powerful and efficient.
