The charm of Ghostrunner also lies in its post-apocalyptic setting with neon lights and full of cyberpunk elements, including the protagonist himself and his katana. The immense tower of Dharma returns with even more improbable lights and platforms in which to demonstrate our skills in cyber parkour. If the first Ghostrunner was difficult and fast, this chapter provides a little more help to those who play, but shows no signs of slowing down; On the contrary, thanks to a balanced combination of platforming and combat, the potential to witness even more epic speed races. Anyone expecting a complete remake of all the content will be disappointed, at least in the first part of the adventure. Many little things are taken liberally from the first chapter but, since the adventure takes place in practically the same places already visited before, it is a choice that we understand and did not bother us at all. Thanks to the updated tool system (including invisibility and the very useful shuriken) and the return of the button to slow down time and change the trajectory in the air, the jumping and combat sections never get boring and always present that variation and increase in difficulty necessary to maintain the constant challenge.

They also add to your arsenal three final movements with very slow reload, essential to eliminate an unexpected enemy or survive a boss attack. These are unlocked over time and can be selected through an intuitive menu with few items. To keep them company, there is the system of improvements that can be purchased with an in-game currency that is obtained by completing each level and whose amount depends on the performance of each one. Divided into seven categories, these passive upgrades influence agility, combos, tools, parries and sword, creating a highly customizable puzzle with which to adapt the gameplay to your needs.

L'increasing the RAM memory of the Ghostrunner (i.e. the slots available to equip modifications) is dictated by collecting a purple collectible. After a few upgrades, you will be able to use multiple upgrades at the same time and create the perfect assassin for every situation. These upgrades can be redeemed at any time, but can only be purchased from a kiosk in Jack's base of operations. Tying such a key aspect of progression to a collectible that you have to remember to search for (there's no backtracking, so those left behind are lost) didn't appeal much to us, but each level is sufficiently filled with these power-ups to not transform the mechanics on an obstacle.
