From the first trailers and during the Videogame Awards, Death Stranding made no secret of hiding in the game world several famous figures inside the shelters that can be found in Hideo Kojima's America. Called Prepper, these VIPs awaiting reconnection can often be reached through the Orders for Sam available in the various bases, thus making them easily found even just by playing and carrying out the missions normally.

But in case you are looking for someone specific, below you will find a list of all the cameos and where to find them, along with some information on their location. A good tip that applies to everyone is to look at the chiral network by pressing Options and see the black areas of its coverage. Heading towards them you may discover a new destination for your deliveries, along with some secrets or prominent characters.

Fan at Ludens (Geoff Keighley)

The now iconic host of the Videogame Awards it was the first famous Prepper to be confirmed for Death Stranding and it is also the first you will most likely come across. It is located in the Eastern Region near the Logistics Center of Capital Knot City. To find it, just exit the latter and continue for a few meters to the right until you reach an area where the chiral network is interrupted. His refuge is on a promontory and once found he will provide you with the Holograms representing the beloved Ludens of Hideo Kojima. Unlocking it will also send you several e-mails telling you the story of a game that changed humanity. Who knows what game he is talking about?

The Musician (Daichi Miura)

If you have seen Dragon Ball Super Broly and listened to his Blizzard or you love beautiful Japanese music, surely you will not be able not to know Daichi Miura. His house is located on the lakeside west of the Logistics Center in the Eastern Region and, being a musician, he will provide you with the harmonica that Sam plays in the trailers to calm BB. In all likelihood, you will get his position simply by accepting Standard Orders at the Logistics Center.

The Craftsman (Hermen Hulst)

The first famous Prepper of the Central Region is precisely the current manager of Sony Worldwide Studios and former head of Guerrilla Studios. The creators of Horizon Zero Dawn have in fact lent Kojima their Tenth Engine for the realization of Death Stranding, so it shouldn't surprise you to find this figure in the game. You will find it by continuing normally in the plot.

Thomas Sutherland (Edgar Wright)

Creator of Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver and other iconic films, he is the first director you'll meet in the game as soon as you unlock the Distribution Center south of Lake Knot City in the Central Region. It is one of the many references to the world of cinema so loved by Kojima, who has no scruple to pay homage to his favorite directors.

The Director (Jordan Vogt-Roberts)

This reference is clearly less veiled, but let's talk about the director of Kong: Skull Island and currently working on the Metal Gear Solid film. Needless to emphasize its presence again, especially since it will be the least friendly Prepper you will meet in the game. It is no coincidence that it is located just west of Il Rigattiere in the Central Region.

The Collector (Hirokazu Hanamura)

If you find Orders asking you to steal lost video games from the MULES, then you will be dealing with the former editorial director of Famitsu (historical magazine that recently awarded the perfect score to Death Stranding). You will find him locked up in a bunker under a very difficult ravine in the area largely ruined by crevasses near the Central Region Distribution Center.

The Cosplayer (Conan O'Brien)

Another of the famous Preppers announced prior to release is the host of the Late Night di NBC, now often involved in video games. Its peculiarity derives from the reward of the Otter Helmet and the dubious jokes he will make when meeting Sam. You can find it by delivering the Sewing Kits as Orders for Sam present at the Distribution Center in the Central Region.

Alex Weatherstone (Errolson Hugh)

As the fictional surname suggests, the next famous Prepper is at the Central Region Weather Station and is the stylist of Acronym who has collaborated several times within the videogame world. A real artist, who is recognized for his futuristic ideas and for the many famous collaborations they have brought. You will reach it simply by following the story missions.

Engineer (Junji Ito)

If you don't know Junji Ito, it's time to go to Google and get a little scared by his art. Even the CAs are afraid of the beings created by the mind of this mangaka Japanese, which can be found by you simply by continuing with the main story. Don't worry though: it's not hidden in any mountain with strange human shapes carved out of stone.

Veteran Courier (Sam Lake)

Remedy sneaks into Death Stranding thanks to the presence of the stainless Sam Lake, who, however, does not play the role of an agent of the Federal Bureau of Control but those of a courier with a thousand deliveries. You will find it shortly after the Cronofattoria going west. The latter will have to be reached for the plot, so don't forget to do a little exploration before going back.

Philip North (Tommy Wirkola)

Yet another director for Death Stranding, this time the mind behind it The Seven Sisters e Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. His refuge is after the Mountain Knot City Distribution Center, northwest to be exact. You will have to continue north as far as possible, almost reaching the edge of the map. However, you will find Orders related to this Prepper in the nearest Center.
