Software

The new versions of Apple's operating systems are not expected to represent a revolution compared to those of last year. Thanks to a first version leaked in recent months, today we are able to list some of the possible news of iOS 14 which will debut aboard the next generation of iPhone 12 in September (except for delays).

One would be expected new fitness app for iPhone and Apple Watch which should allow users to download exercise videos that can accompany them throughout their training session.

New for iMessage. Some clues suggest that it will be possible to mention a contact in messages (as happens on WhatsApp when we use @). This way, the user will be able to mute group chats but be notified if he is directly mentioned. Just like on Mark Zuckerberg's platform, iMessage could also allow the deletion of a message that has already been sent so that it is no longer even read by the recipient.

Among the upcoming features, there would be: an augmented reality app; the ability to set third-party apps as default instead of pre-installed ones; a translation function for websites in Safari; a notification function that alerts you when someone does not arrive at a specific location at a scheduled time of the day and other little news. We will tell everything in detail as soon as iOS 14 is officially announced.

These features should also relate to iPadOS which would also gain an Apple Pencil-specific feature. According to MacRumors, a new OCR mechanism is supposed to recognize handwritten texts by the user using the stylus to convert them into plain text (as if typed with the keyboard).

Hardware

After years of indiscretion, it looks like 2020 is Apple's chosen year for announce the switch from Intel processors to proprietary ARM-based processors. The novelty should be made official during WWDC 2020 in order to give developers time to make the necessary changes.

The first ARM-based MacBooks are expected in 2021. During the conference, however, the Cupertino giant could provide details on which will be the first models to lead the way. Apparently, the transition will take place gradually.

According to various rumors, however, Apple is planning the announcement of a new iMac for next 22 June with an aesthetic redesign. The design should follow the lines of the iPad Pro with smaller bezels. This is in line with previous rumors that Apple is busy developing a new 23-inch model, which would retain the same dimensions as the current 21,5-inch iMac. In addition, the new iMac would be equipped with the T2 security chip and an AMD Navi GPU.

Finally, Apple would seem to be working on iPad Mini 6, which we told you about in a previous article. It could be officially presented during WWDC 2020 and then hit the markets a few months later, presumably in the fall.

Other

We've been talking about AirTag for a long time now, a Tile-style device that helps users keep track of their items. After months and months of indiscretions, his time may have come. There are no certainties. We will only be able to find out in a few days.

It could also be announced a new version of HomePod. It could actually be a more compact model that would take the name of HomePod Mini.

As mentioned at the beginning, WWDC 2020 will virtually open its doors on June 22nd at 19 pm. The following days (23-26 June) will be dedicated to technical and design sessions for developers, with videos that will be published every day at 19:00 pm.

In short, a few more days to discover the news that Apple has reserved for us for this 2020 in addition to the new versions of iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS 10.16, tvOS 14 and watchOS 7.

The new iPhone SE 2020 is available on Amazon starting at € 499. .
