Old news reported as new? Facebook now warns us

Not just fake news. One of Facebook's problems is the real news sharing taken out of context after a very long time. Posts that - as often happens on the popular social network - go viral. And here is that Mark Zuckerberg's app also intends to intervene to appease this phenomenon. Soon we will see a notification appear that warns us if we are sharing content older than 90 days.

The notification should lead us to reflect on the usefulness of sharing. From the notification itself, we will be able to choose whether to continue (and therefore share the news if we still consider it relevant) or cancel the operation. The new feature is already being rolled out globally. A move that Facebook has deemed necessary to avoid the spread of out-of-context news that could lead to a distorted view of reality.

Also, Facebook is testing new uses of the notification screen especially in relation to posts mentioning COVID-19. The app intends to show information about the source of the news, if you are sharing news about the pandemic, to which a link will be added to the Facebook Coronavirus Information Center where authoritative health information is collected.

In short, the fight against disinformation continues by social networks that are increasingly becoming the container where users draw on to find out about what is happening in the real world.
