Here we are: finally Monster Hunter World: Iceborne revealed the monster protagonist of the new mode Siege, replacing Kulve Taroth in the counterpart for the Master rank. This is the Safi'jiiva and, as the name suggests, it is an adult version of the baby Xeno'jiiva that we addressed at the end of the first main campaign. But don't be fooled by the draconic aspect, the Safi'jiiva still possesses all the characteristics that made the Xeno fearsome, along with a whole host of new moves capable of wiping out all the life forms around it. Due to its dangerousness, we have decided to come to your aid again and help you elaborate a strategy to defeat this monster and obtain at least the strongest and most peculiar weapons of Iceborne.

Unlocking and Preparation Requirements

To face the Siege of the Safi'jiiva you will necessarily have to complete both the Rajang Quest and the Stygian Zinogre Quest, as well as having a Master's Degree from 24 to XNUMX. If you are a gamer who has fleshed out the base game and has access to a very good armor set, along with the weapons of the Golden Rathian and Rathalos Argentato, you won't have much work to do before facing the red dragon. On the other hand, less frequent players will be able to take advantage of Zinogre Stigeo to build his armor set and, most importantly, the weapons associated with it.

Remote players will also be able to take advantage of the great set of the Horizon Zero Dawn collaboration, that is, the armor and the upgradeable Thunder Crossbow obtainable through the completion of the quest event that requires you to hunt a Stygian Zinogre (power armor / crossbow upgrade and one for a normal Zinogre (obtaining basic crossbow). choice, be sure to bring Polvere di Vita and Sap Vitale in abundance, returning to camp during the fight to ensure that you are fully resupplied. Likewise, having jewelry Large Area / Health Bonus it will come in very handy, even though the damage from the Safi'jiiva is not so devastating.

Technical Cloak and Vitality Cloak / Healing Bengal are highly recommended, along with all the other power-up items and various serums. Also exploit weaknesses to all monster statuses, especially Poison and Burst to whom it is weak (and here the weapons of the Golden Rathian come in handy). Likewise the most recommended element is the Dragon in the presence of an Elder Seal, considering that the latter will have a greater effect on the dynamics of the clash. While it is slightly sleep-resistant, carrying a weapon that can put him to sleep might be a good idea, even though the bombs don't deal a lot of damage to him.

In an ideal party it would be preferable to have at least one hunter using ranged weapons, one with a "cutting" weapon, one with a "blunt" weapon and a Bug-Lance to take advantage of the ability to mount and break the back otherwise impossible to attack. Through this balance, it will be possible to obtain most of the Research Points to increase the Reward Level, aiming to break all the parts of the monster and exploit any environmental traps.

Battle against the Safi'jiiva

At first you will be asked to take on the Safi'jiiva through a Research mission which, basically, only serves to explain the functioning of the fight in a nutshell. Don't be afraid to tackle it alone, too - this is a very short encounter, with less damage and quite easy. Use it to familiarize yourself with the monster's attacks, the pitch, the effects of the environment and above all understand how to avoid the huge area attack that kills all hunters.

But let's go in order following what is the dynamics of the Siege. Initially you will find yourself in the so-called first level, in which the monster will be in its mildest state. What it will do is attack you with standard attacks while you basically have to try to hit him as many blows as possible to exhaust his "energy". The Safi'jiiva in fact works as a big battery: use the surrounding nature to recharge your body. Your task in all levels will be to force him to use all the energy of the arenas, causing him to weaken until finally defeating him. To do this, however, it is essential that your team coordinate with the Grapple Claw and always weaken the leathery parts that make up his body (legs, tail, head, etc.), allowing you to really hurt him without your blows suffering the reduction of enemy armor.

In the first level you will notice that it will be there an area marked in green where the commission will advise you to take the enemy. If you stagger on those brambles, the Safi'jiiva will remain trapped and it will end up wasting a lot of energy trying to break free. Always use the environment in the first two levels, trapping the monster or hitting it with makeshift rock traps. Once injured for a while and exhausted the energy of the first level, the Safi'jiiva it will move to the second layer and you will have to repeat exactly what has been done so far.

The second layer also features bumps from which you can launch yourself to attempt to ride the monster, in case you miss someone with the Bug-Spear. Also, hence the dragon it will start targeting the player who will deal the most damage to it or anyone who often uses the Claw Grapple on their head. This state is signaled by a red thread that connects the player to the monster and it will be essential to be able to maintain this stage to prevent the dragon from becoming even more aggressive.

What changes in the second level is that the Safi'jiiva will more often resort to explosive attacks and jets of blue fire, culminating in a huge area attack signaled by its soaring. When the blue flames envelop the whole field, head as soon as possible to one of the small rocks protruding from the ground and take cover from the center of the attack. Only in this way will you save your life, exactly as it happened with the Behemoth Meteor, only with a little more time available.

Once you have run out of energy in this arena as well, you will find yourself at the end of the race in a cave full of green geysers (spoiler: they deal quite a bit of damage to the monster). Here the Safi'jiiva will be decidedly angry and will attack you with extreme vehemence, entering a hypercritical state that makes him vulnerable in the face of an increase in attacks. Not only will he be more ferocious in standard moves, but he won't mind use the blue flame many times and more quickly which covers the entire playing field, making the battle quite difficult for you. As with the Kulve Taroth, it will be almost impossible to defeat him at the first meeting, forcing you to try the feat several times and with several teams at the same time. The good thing is that the longer you are in the lobby, the more rewards you will get at the end of the fight, increasing even more if you kill more Saifa'jiiva while staying in the same Session.
