Instagram for iPad, CEO explains why it's not there yet

Instagram is one of the most used applications of the moment. Although the company introduces more and more functions and begins to extend them to the web version as well, an iPad version is not yet available. Owners of Apple tablets are forced to use the iPhone application which is presented as an enlarged version. Because? A first answer is provided by the CEO of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, through the Stories of the popular social network.

According to Mosseri, the reason there is no specific Instagram app for iPad yet is the lack of human resources to be used for its development. “We would like to build an iPad app, but we only have these people and a lot of things to do, and it hasn't emerged as the best thing to do yet,” replies the CEO to a user question. In short, the will is there but the resources are currently committed to other projects, such as the improvement and refinement of the iPhone version.

That said, the lack of staff as a motivation leaves some perplexity. If we consider that Instagram is part of Facebook which is one of the richest companies in Silicon Valley whose increase in expenses in the last quarter was justified precisely with the new hires, Mosseri's answer appears less convincing.

In short, what is clear is that - at least for the moment - the development of an app created specifically for the iPad is not a priority for Instagram. IPadOS users will therefore have to wait a little longer and be content to use the iPhone version or log in via the website even if this offers fewer features.
