"Escazzibur...escazzibur." "Excalibur, you idiot!" The passage of time risks making the memory of the sword that offends Fantozzi fade because he cannot pronounce its name, but fortunately there is now a video game character, the warrior Maruto, who proudly holds his Eskizzibur with which Take down thousands of enemies. Some of the new weapons are very tasty.

Let's say right away that Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari is in line with the previous expansion, Legacy of the Moonspell, in terms of quantity. new content and the price. For €1,99 you take home many extras. Meanwhile, there is a new map, Lake Foscari, named after the prestigious Ca' Foscari University in Venice, which we will talk about in detail later. Then there are eight new playable characters, who in addition to the aforementioned Maruto, a burly warrior not very fast but decidedly resilient, include the clever and timid sorceress Eleanor, the thief Keitha, armed with a bow and arrows, and the powerful witch Luminaria, the guardian of Lake Foscari also called the Lady of the Lake or the Tree Lady. We know we've only mentioned four, but the others are hidden and we don't want to ruin the surprise and pleasure of finding them yourself. Thirteen weapons have also been added, including some spells, the aforementioned Eskizzibur sword, as well as new combinations for them with the usual barrage of special effects when raised to the maximum level.

New audio tracks have also been added, linked to characters and scenarios and many new enemies. From a purely quantitative point of view, we are talking about about ten more hours of gameplay to unlock everything (a little more depending on the demonstrated skill). Not a little, considering the price really very low. If you're a fan of Vampire Survivors, this limited list may have already convinced you to purchase the expansion. Furthermore, from a mechanical point of view, the game remains the same as always: once a hero has been chosen, you have to massacre waves of thousands of enemies, trying to survive for thirty minutes, leveling up your character, weapons and items. available. he. , in a growing kaleidoscope of sounds and special effects.

Lake Foscari

Did you really want to walk around Lake Foscari in complete peace of mind?

The most interesting part of the expansion is definitely the Lake Foscari, in our opinion better as a map than Mount Moonspell, introduced with the previous expansion. The reason is that it seems to us that Poncle has found the right compromise between the desire to propose a more structured and varied design compared to the original maps, all of which are very repetitive in their morphology, and the problems derived from the creation of narrower maps. . and more tortuous and unnatural passages compared to the main loop of the game. So, although Lake Foscari is also full of unique areas and passages more complex than the old maps, including some labyrinths, the funnels of Mount Moonspell no longer exist and there is much less retracing of steps in search of alternative routes or to reach this or that object. The new enemies also hit the spot, as they all look like they came from a classic fantasy universe, with a clear Harry Potter touch, especially in some bosses (killing a Patronus Charm isn't bad, let's face it). So expect to face endless hordes of strange elves, armored knights, trolls, giant worms and whatnot. After all, the new heroes are practically a D&D party, so in theory they should be able to handle themselves.

Chaos always dominates everything.

In short, Vampire Survivors: Tides of the Foscari does what it has to do and it does it without squeezing the player too much, presenting itself as a very valid way to expand the gaming experience. Of course, don't expect revs, but we imagine you took it for granted since it was simple. DLC, no matter how big it is. What are you waiting for? It's time to slaughter thousands of enemies again.
